The first week of February 2009, Cathy Wells was notified from a Vet Tech at a local Vet Clinic about a Male,Deaf 18 month old Border Collie. A rancher had walked into Frenship Veterinary Hospital (was not a client) and ask Dr. Steve how much to put this dog down. This man had this dog since it was a puppy but he was “not working out with the cows due to the dog being deaf”. Dr. Steve ask the man to sign the dog over to him which he did. Dr. Steve was not about to put this wonderful dog down for being deaf. So Cathy and I decided to go see this boy and see if there was anyway we could help, maybe find a foster or forever home for him. Well, one look at him and I thought to myself, he belongs at my house!! So, after going to visit him every day for 4-5 days I told Dr. Steve that his name was now Tucker and he was coming home with me. The middle of February that is exactly what happened!! Tucker has learned so much and we have too. His little brother Little Man, has only one eye, but he can hear for the both of them and Tucker can see for the both of them. They have become the best of buddies,rolling around in the living room,playing catch with their favorite toys outside. Tucker has some Great Pyrenees mixed in and he is a gentle giant. Tucker has been a pleasant and joyful addition to this household and i don’t know how we got along without dogs for the short time that we did. —-Mickey Jones
Note from Cathy: I have been around Tucker numerous times and just cannot imagine how anyone could have put this amazing animal down just because he was deaf. He is so smart and is a GENTLE GIANT!!! TUCKER IS MY HERO!!!
