It is with a very heavy heart and many tears that I will post this to the group. This morning a very difficult decision had to be made about Gia, the dane-mix that was found in South Lubbock starving to death in an alley. Gia began having seizures this morning and was not really coming back around between her seizures. The seizures became more violent with each one and they were happening closer and closer together. Not knowing the extent of what was wrong with her nor the damage the seizures were causing we decided it best for Gia to be put to sleep.  She has been having trouble keeping on weight.

 

I would like to thank Katt and her family for showing this girl what it was to be a pet and to be loved her last week of life. Katt has had a tough run with her dane rescues. I knew when I spoke with her about Gia that danes and pits are her calling and if anyone could get this girl to trust again it would be her.  She loved Gia and Gia had learned to trust Katt and her girls.

 

I am very suspicious about where Gia came from. Gia is the second dane found around South Frankford and 114 Street to 1585. The first dane, Apollo (he was also a rescue of Katts), was found in that area, too. Both danes apparently had pre-existing terminal conditions and apparently was dumped. Katt had to have Apollo put to sleep after having him a short time due to cancer. If anyone knows of any dane breeders out that way, please let me know. I will be doing some investigating of my own in that area. So any helpers/information would be great.

 

Again, thank you Katt for all you did for this girl. And thank you Melanie–what would we do without you???
